Adolescent Classes
Little Scoundrals
Adolescent classes are specifically designed for teenage dogs – those who have mastered the basics but are beginning to test boundaries as they grow and mature. There are a total of 5 sessions spread over 5 weeks, being one 1 hour session a week for 5 weeks. This stage can be challenging for both dog and owner as natural instincts, curiosity, and energy levels increase. These classes provide a structured, supportive environment to guide your dog through this exciting but sometimes unpredictable phase.
In these sessions, Sara focuses on reinforcing obedience and reliability. Your dog will practice responding to cues consistently, even when distractions are present, helping them stay focused in real-world situations. Classes also emphasise self-control and impulse management, teaching dogs how to remain calm and make good choices, whether on the lead, around other dogs, or in stimulating environments.
The benefit of adolescent classes goes beyond training commands – it’s about shaping behaviour, building confidence, and strengthening the bond between you and your dog. Each lesson equips you with practical tools and strategies to manage challenging behaviours, so you feel capable, confident, and in control as your dog grows into a well-mannered, responsive adult companion.
By the end of the course, your teenage dog will be more focused, better behaved, and more confident in themselves – and you’ll have the skills to continue guiding them positively as they transition into adulthood.

What age are these classes suitable for?
Typically, adolescent classes are aimed at dogs between 6 months and 18 months, when energy levels are high and natural testing of boundaries occurs. Sara can advise if your dog is ready based on their individual development.
What will my dog learn in these classes?
Classes focus on:
-
Strengthening obedience and response to commands
-
Maintaining focus around distractions (other dogs, people, or environments)
-
Developing self-control and impulse management
-
Building confidence and social skills for real-life situations
How are the classes structured?
Classes are small, allowing for personalised guidance. Each session includes practical exercises, real-world scenarios, and positive reinforcement to help your dog generalise their skills across different environments.
Can these classes help with behaviour challenges?
Yes. Adolescence is a time when unwanted behaviours can emerge, like pulling on the lead, jumping, or overexcitement. These classes provide structured, relationship-based strategies to address these behaviours while reinforcing good habits.
Will I learn techniques to use at home?
Absolutely. Each class includes guidance and exercises for you to practice at home, ensuring consistency and helping your dog apply what they’ve learned in everyday life.
