Sara Fortune
Hi! My name is Sara and I am the founder of Paws Of Fortune, I live in a small town called Clevedon. I have completed the Dog Training College Certification Programme and I am looking forward to sharing my skills, support and knowledge with dog owners old and new. Dogs are my passion! There is no doubt in my mind that life is better with a dog in it! Dogs have so much to offer us, such as companionship, they help us to stay active, dogs can improve mental health and well-being by reducing stress. Dogs encourage us to be sociable and interact with others, they are loyal and their love is unconditional. We humans can learn so much from dogs!
I have a 4 year old Beagle. His name is Bertie. Bertie can be very stubborn and extremely noisy but I wouldn’t have him any other way. I have taken Bertie to many classes covering agility, scent work, adolescence, recall, foundation skills, puppy classes and anti-social behaviour workshops. These classes have helped strengthen and solidify our bond tremendously. We have a close relationship built on trust, loyalty, respect and love. Bertie is a hound and his nose is his secret weapon!
I believe in fostering a positive and nurturing attitude to enable dogs and owners to successfully live together happily and peacefully in the home and beyond. My training methods primarily focus on positive reinforcement, where desired behaviours are rewarded through treats, play, positive praise or anything that motivates your dog. This method not only strengthens the bond between owner and dog but it also promotes willingness to learn.
What does positive reinforcement look like? By associating positive experiences with specific actions, dogs learn to repeat those actions to earn the reward.
I will tailor your training sessions to meet the unique needs of you and your dog, ensuring a personalised approach that will guarantee effective results. My training methods emphasise understanding of canine behaviour, body language and communication, allowing me to address any challenges with patience and expertise. Whether you’re looking to teach basic foundation skills, obedience, enhance and improve on socialisation skills, correct undesired behaviours, lose lead walking tips, enrichment ideas, build your bond with your dog, or you just want to have some fun learning new things and enjoy fun experiences with your dog, I can provide knowledge, support and skills to ensure you have a wonderful and pawsitive training session.
I would love to hear from you! Please reach out by email or phone or book a free consultation.
Best wishes
Sara (and Bertie)
